Recharge Today with a Delicious Chocolate Smoothie

Here is another recipe from Jennifer Samway, endurance athlete and yoga instructor. The Chocolate Joy Protein Shake is a creamy and delicious shake with and coconut flakes and specks of cocoa nibs, which give it a rich tasting “Joy” after a hard workout. The coconut makes it full of medium chain fatty acids (MCFA) that support the immune system, thyroid, nervous system, and skin, and provide fast energy. The cocoa nibs are full of magnesium, iron, chromium, manganese and zinc. The cinnamon has been shown to be beneficial to maintaining already healthy glucose levels. Blend this smoothie up to recharge your body and fuel your daily well-being!

Recipe Notes
*Coconut flakes are just the least processed form of coconut meat. Try purchasing them unsweetened and in large flake size, which is chunkier and does not contain the anti-caking agent found in most common store brands of shredded coconut. You can find coconut flakes in most gourmet or higher end grocery stores.
**Cocoa nibs are available at most health food stores and some grocery stores. It is the raw chocolate bean before it is processed into chocolate bars. Full of antioxidants, cocoa nibs are considered a superfood. In addition to antioxidants, it is known for being high in magnesium, iron, chromium, manganese, zinc, copper, vitamin C and Omega 6 fatty acids.
